Before you get started
Here’s what you need to know and will need to have ready. If you don’t have everything ready, you can initiate the process and provide the missing information at a later date:
- You must be a director or able to act as a legal representative of this company
- A copy of your Government ID (such as a driver’s licence or passport)
- Your proof of address:
- The proof of address must be less than 6 months old
- Phone bills and PO boxes are NOT accepted
- Accepted documents include bank statements, utility bills (Gas, water, rates) or Government-issued documents (e.g. ATO, vehicle registration, etc.)
- Pen and paper
- Your mobile phone
- Company details (ABN, ACN, address, etc.)
- Company extract document (e.g. ASIC Company Extract for Australian companies), showing details of all directors and office holders.
- Company director(s) and beneficial owner(s) details, including:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Country of residence
- A copy of their Government-issued photo ID
Follow these easy steps below
1. Start the process: From the bitcoin.com.au homepage, select Sign up.
2. Account setup: On the account setup page add your username, email address, a strong password, and select the “Company”.
3. Agree to terms: Review and agree to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, and click “Next”.
4. Verify your email: Enter the confirmation code emailed to you, and click “Next”.
5. Identity verification: Click “Continue” to begin setting up your identity verification.
6. Enter personal details: Fill in your full legal name, date of birth, home address, and phone number, then click “Next”.
7. Set Up Google Authenticator:
- install the free Google Authenticator app on your mobile phone or tablet,
- scan QR code provided using Google Authenticator
- Enter the code that Google Authenticator displays, then click “Enable”.
8. Define account purpose: Select the purpose of your account and source of your income from the drop-down options provided, then click Next.
9. Photo verification: Take a photo of yourself holding a government-issued photo ID (such as a passport or driver’s licence), next to a piece of paper stating “bitcoin.com.au” and today’s date.
Upload this photo by clicking “browse” or dropping the files into the space provided. Click “Next“.
10. ID documentation: Take a photo of both sides of this photo ID and upload these.
11. Address verification: Upload a photo of one supporting document that shows your current address (valid up to 6 months)
- Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, rates)
- Bank statement
- Government-issued documents (vehicle registration, ATO)
12. Provide company details:
- Company name
- ABN
- ACN
- Company address, and
- Company website (URL).
You must be a director of this company and able to act as its legal representative.
13. Upload company extract: For Aussie companies, this is an ASIC company extract, and it should show the details of all directors. See example below.
14. Provide director and beneficial owner details, including:
- First legal name
- Last legal name
- Date of birth
- Country of residence, and
- Photo ID, then click “Next”.
A beneficial owner is an individual who ultimately controls or owns more than 25% of the company’s shares or voting rights or who otherwise exercises control over the company or its management.
15. If there are multiple directors/ beneficial owners, select “Add more directors/beneficial owners” and include their details, then click “Next”.
16. Final confirmation: Confirm that your company details are correct, then click “Next”.
17. Wait for Verification: Submit your application and allow up to two business days for verification.
